W. Lynn Owens is a 1992 graduate of Wayne State University Law School in Detroit, Michigan. He started practicing law in Detroit as a self-employed copyright, trademark and entertainment lawyer. He also taught copyright and entertainment law at Marygrove College Division of Continuing Education in Detroit. Since relocating to Tennessee in 1997, Lynn has been the senior pastor of In Sync Ministries, Inc., and the executive director of Jericho Community Law Office in Franklin, Tennessee. In 2003, Lynn joined McCann and Hubbard. His practice includes copyright, trademark, unfair competition, computer and internet law and non-profit and business law. Lynn has written about and conducted seminars on such topics as copyright law, the IRS tax exemption process, and the roles and responsibilities of board members. Lynn has been married for 23 years to Chiarina, a clinical psychologist practicing in Brentwood, Tennessee. They have two children, a 10-year old girl who thinks she is 22 and three quarters and a 16-year old boy who thinks he is smarter, better looking and way cooler than that other male in their house. His family attends Grace Center Church in the Grassland area of Nashville, Tennessee. He is a 2004 graduate of Leadership Franklin and past president of the Empty Hands Fellowship. Lynn serves on the Board of Directors of United Way of Williamson County, Tennessee and is a member of its executive committee. He spends his downtime reading and cycling. His favorite book to date is “Team of Rivals: The Political Genius of Abraham Lincoln.” He is currently reading, “Monkey Girl: Evolution, Education, Religion and the Battle for America’s Soul.” His favorite saying is “Happy wife, happy life.” His dream bike is a custom-made Lynskey. His life’s quest is “to boldly go where no man has gone before.”
